The Omron ECG risk scanner

Pay it forward
April 3, 2019

We all have those patients who are at risk of developing heart disease.  We all know that the best form of treatment for these patients is exercise. With the OMRON Portable HeartScan ECG Monitor, a recording of about 30 seconds can be made when symptoms occur when visiting our practice. These recording details can then be shown for information to the doctor, who can examine it and use it for correct diagnosis. From an analysis of the waveform, some information can be obtained on the presence of arrhythmia or ST-level deviations related to ischaemic heart disease. Taking the condition of the user into consideration, the user-friendly and ergonomic design allows the user to take a reading instantly and discretely. The design of the pick-up sensor system provides a sufficiently clear signal for further evaluation in the ECG device. Once this scan is done at rest, the patient can be tested safely to determine cardiac efficiency and to achieve baseline values so that we can determine the correct dosage .

This unit will be used in all at risk populations. If an elderly man for example is referred after a knee replacement, a quick scan can determine whether there is any risk factors that needed to be taken into consideration.

If you are busy with a consult, you can also refer your client for a quick test at a minimal cost to assist you with the diagnosis of your patient.

I have taken the liberty to attach and example of a report for your perusal.
